Edo SUBEB Commences Tree Planting Exercise in Public Primary Schools Across the State

In response to the Green Initiative of the Governor Godwin Obaseki administration, the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has begun a tree planting exercise in public primary schools across the State. The exercise was flagged off by the Chairman, Edo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, represented by Hon. Elizabeth Ighodaro, Board Member representing Edo South, Edo SUBEB,  at Community Primary school, Oredo.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Elizabeth Ighodaro noted the indispensability of trees to the environment. According to her, "We are flagging of this exercise today in response to Governor Godwin Obaseki Green Initiative which upholds the tenets of environmental sustainability". She noted the determination of the Edo State Government and Edo SUBEB to make public primary schools across the State conducive for learning and make the academic environment a green oasis.

Similar exercise was carried out at Olua Primary School, Egor. At Emotan and Adesuwa Primary Schools, Oredo, teachers and pupils were seen planting trees. The exercise is expected to cover all public primary schools across the State as every class is expected to plant a tree.

Trees remain a vital part of school grounds as they aid stress reduction, enhance physical activities and improve the mental health of pupils.
