More Schools Earmarked for Reconstruction/Renovation as Edo State Government Embarks on Massive Rehabilitation of Public Schools
Edo State Government through the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), recently embarked on a massive rehabilitation of schools across the 18 local government areas of the State. About 234 schools have been captured in the rehabilitation exercise with 36 new buildings constructed from the scratch while others have undergone or are undergoing various forms of renovation. About 2,227 classrooms have so far been renovated, with 2,552 steel doors and 7,669 steel windows installed. About 94,064 square metre new roofs and 80,637 square metre floor tiles have been fixed. So far, over 2,163 white boards have been installed in public primary schools across the state. Usogun Primary School, Auchi, used to be characterized by dank and derelict structures until it was worn a new look by the current rehabilitation of schools.
