Time Management

One thing that is never, and would never be enough is TIME so, we must learn how to plan and utilize the available time at our disposal. We need to be imbued with time management skills in order for our predetermined goals to be accomplished effectively and efficiently.
Time is a valuable resources that should never be  wasted on frivolities. Lateness, absenteeism, non completion of lessons, late lesson delivery, struggle to meet deadlines, amongst others could be as a result of poor time management and it hinders productivity on a very large scale.

             **WHAT IS TIME?**
For the purpose of  this article, I would define time as a period during which something occur or should occur.
           **TIME MANAGEMENT**
This is the act of planning the amount of time spent on specific activities, programmes, or tasks in order to boost effectiveness and efficiency in the work place. Here, you exercising conscious control of time .

As opined by Frederick Taylor in his scientific management theory, "the best way to complete task is to calculate the time needed for the various elements of a task to be completed". This gives room for efficiency and effectiveness.

  ***TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS***

(1) Effective Planning :
Make a commitment to plan your time daily. It takes only a few minutes but makes a drastic difference in productivity.
We must as a matter of importance plan our day.  If possible, allocate time to each activity and avoid spending too much time on specific activities.

(2) Setting Goals :
We must set realistic goals and achievable targets. Adjustments can be made where necessary but make sure you set your goal for each day and work towards achieving it.

(3) Prioritise Activities :
Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter less. Priorities should begin with avoiding/eliminating the task which you should not be performing. More important tasks should be carried out first before less important ones.

(4) Make a List :
Make a "To Do" list to serve as a reminder so you would not be leaving any task behind. If possible, save it on your phone and set an alarm on it.

(5) Remain Focused and Disciplined :
When there are tasks to be completed, please face it. Once focus is lost, it is difficult to get back on track. Avoid unnecessary excuses when there are pressing issues. Remember there would always be something else competing for your attention.
Focus is one of those time management skills you do not realise how important it is until you struggle with it.

(6) Avoid Procrastination :
This would only lead to waste of time. Remember nothing is ever done too early except death.

If time is effectively managed, it will enable one to take more control of one's life, get the most of life, live more effectively, calmly, and enjoyably. It also increases productivity and help get more work done with less stress.
