Edo Subeb Hosts Stakeholders' Consultative Meeting on Teaching at the Right Level (TARL)


On Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 Edo SUBEB hosted a Stakeholders' Consultative Meeting on Pillar 3 of Edo BEST, which is Curriculum and Pupil Learning Outcomes.  This was to enable stakeholders discuss the new innovation of Teaching at the Right Level (TARL).

TARL is about grouping pupils by ability level instead of grade level while focusing on four key areas: literacy, numeracy, writing and critical thinking. This would help accelerate pupils learning outcomes because they would be tutored at their appropriate level of instruction

EdoBEST has decided to birth this innovation to help fast track pupils learning outcomes and further strengthen the goals of primary Education as stated in the National Policy on Education  which includes to: inculcate permanent literacy and numaracy , lay a sound basis for scientific, critical and reflective thinking, develop pupils manipulative skills, etc...this latest innovation in Edo Best would help pupils make fast progress because they will learn at their right level, it has a simpler methodology, help focus on learning needs of the children,  develop their critical thinking ability and manipulative skills, help teachers support better as pupils in their class would be in the same level amosgt others...

The stakeholders present were...NUT, AOPSHON, CCT, HMs, Teachers, SBMC members, parents, Education Secretaries, SUBEB management, etc.
