Edo State Government Sends Primary School Teachers Abroad...

Since the inception of Edo Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) in Edo state where over 7000 primary school teachers across the 18 Local Government Areas  in the state went through rigorous trainings on the use of computers and modern teaching techniques in delivering quality teaching content, several trainings and opportunities have preceded...


Amongst these are: robotic training organised by Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (EdoSUBEB) in collaboration with RoboRave and supported by the United States Embassy, invitation of Edo basic education teachers to high level educational conference: Nigerian Education Innovation Summit (NEDIS) 4th edition held in Lagos on October, 17th and 18th 2018 where they were made panelist to speak on accountability and transparency in the educational sector.



Latest in this development is sending of two primary school teachers in the state to the United States.

Teacher Vivian Iguisi and headteacher Omonwiele were full of praise and appreciation to Governor Godwin Enogheghase Obaseki and Dr J.O Oviawe (Chairman EdoSUBEB) particularly for the rear opportunity given them and also for the various innovations currently going on in Edo state basic education.

The teachers who arrived Washington DC on Sunday, 4th November,2018 have so far visited the US consulate where they spoke extensively on the EdoBEST program,  the WorldBank Global headquarters in Washington DC, and are presently at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) where they are to have some presentations...


It is worthy of note that the present EdoBEST program in the state have so far trained over 7000 primary school teachers in 612 primary schools, equipped teachers with teachers computer which they access daily lessons from and take attendance from the central support system,headteachers equipped with smartphones and thousands of free textbooks distributed to pupils across the 18 Local Government Areas in the state free of charge.

Learning and Development Officers,Quality Assurance Officers and Social Mobilizations Officers have been deployed to schools to monitor the teaching process.

So far, 150,000 pupils are currently covered by the EdoBest  program.
